2016 Dream Out Loud Scholarship

Arts Out Loud, provides post-secondary education scholarships to artists in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Scholarships are based on academic standing, artistic talents, and commitment to an arts-based curriculum. Special consideration will be given for financial need.

Academic fields/Career goals: Film, Music, Dance, and Theatre

Award: Scholarship for use in freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior years; not renewable

Number: 5; Amount: $2500

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be enrolled or expecting to enroll full-time at a 2-year, 4-year, or technical institution or university. Identify as LGBT. Available to US citizens

Application Requirements: Application form, essay, financial need analysis, recommendations or references, portfolio/reel/DVD of work, transcript. Deadline: TBA

Discover Out Loud mentoring provides vocational and emotional support to LGBT youth working towards a future in the arts (film, dance, theatre, or music) with one-to-one or online mentoring. Our mentors help our young creative people feel empowered and positive within their own sexual orientation and gender identity as well as career choice.

ARTS OUT LOUD HOSTS 2ND ANNUAL LGBTQ COMMUNITY STORYTELLING EVENT

PITTSBURGH – Arts Out Loud will host Speak Out Loud Pittsburgh!, a free storytelling event bringing the community together on Thursday, May 4 beginning at 6:30pm at the Peirce Studio inside the Trust Arts Education Center downtown. The unique forum promises to be intimate and personal; amusing, moving and inspirational, as individuals with different backgrounds and careers related to entertainment take the stage to share their personal tales of opposition, support, failure, and success.

ARTS OUT LOUD ANNOUNCES MENTORING PROGRAM FOR LGBTQ YOUTH
PITTSBURGH –

Arts Out Loud announced the launch of a new LGBTQ youth arts focused mentoring program this spring. Discover Out Loud Mentoring, which is open to LGBTQ youth ages 16-22, is intended to help build confidence and experience in rising artists in the areas of film, theatre, dance, and music. Applications are now open for mentors and mentees in Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and for online mentoring. Registration ends on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
