The Lotus blooms with heartfelt stories!

Local LGBT storytellers and our special guest, Writer & Director, Robert Hensley, shared their stories at the first The Lotus” in Pittsburgh, PA, July 24th, 2016 in Shadyside!! Watch the highlights below! *Due to privacy concerns not all of our attendees wanted to be featured in this clip.

If we gave you a microphone, a stage, and an audience, what would you say?

What would you say to your younger self? What advice would you share with the next generation of LGBT youth? What do you hope for your future? For their futures?

What’s your story?   Introducing a new series from Arts Out Loud called The Lotus that gives you the power to tell your own personal story to members of the LGBT and allies community—your community. This isn’t a lecture or a TED talk or even a Slam. There won’t be scripts, notes, or Powerpoint slides. It’s just you, a mic, an audience, and your life experience.

Do You Want To Tell Your Story? Now it’s your turn! Select storytellers will share their stories. No notes. No slides. No net. It will be intimate and personal. You will learn things about your friends and neighbors that will amuse you, move you, and perhaps even inspire you.

It’s a brave and vulnerable thing for someone to stand on a stage in a room full of strangers and allow others to bear witness to their truth. You won’t want to miss this unique forum.
